This project is an ongoing application of novel data collection methods to study for formation and adoption of extremist attitudes online.
Based upon a pilot study that launched October, 2020, this project includes data gathered from three major platforms including sub-communities of varying levels of political polarization, extreme rhetoric, and endorsement of violent behavior.
Upcoming work on this project seeks to expand data collection capacity with partners at other research centers and publish the findings of the initial data.
Preliminary findings and the methodological framework were presented at the American Society of Criminology Annual Meeting in Chicago, IL.
